The Calgary International Grand Prix series of events will
consist of 8 Active tournaments. Players will accumulate
Grand Prix points for every win and draw earned. No
points are given for byes or forced byes. CFC regular
ratings will be used. Your CFC regular rating at your first Grand Prix
event will determine you Grand Prix prize section. Your most
current CFC rating will be used at each event.
Time control will be game in 25 minutes + 10 seconds.
All events will be a one section swiss with class prizes available. Class prizes for each event will be determined by rating distribution of entered players at each event (minimum of 2 sections, maximum of 4 sections).

Entry: Adult, $25. Junior/U1200*: $15. $5 from each adult entry and $2.50 from each junior/U1200 entry will go into the Grand Prix prize fund. $10 of each adult entry and $7.50 from each Junior/U1200 entry will go towards the prize fund of that event, with the remaining money (less $10 per event) going towards expenses for the 2012 Calgary International Chess Classic.

Estimated cash prize fund for the Grand Prix is $750. Grand Prix prizes will be distributed in the following sections:

Open Section: 1st:$160, 2nd: $80
Under 1900 Section: 1st: $140, 2nd: $70
Under 1600 Section: 1st: $120, 2nd: $60
Under 1200 Junior Section*: 1st: $80, 2nd: $40

* Must be under 14 years of age and rated under 1200 CFC or under 14 years of age and unrated.

The exact prize fund structure is subject to change until October 1, 2011.

Merchandise prizes will also be available!
Merchandise prizes include: Books, framed picture, ornamental chess set, chess wall clock.

All tournaments will be held on Sunday's from 11am to 5pm. There will be a lunch break after round 2 for each event. Registration for each event closes at 10:55am. Games start promptly at 11am. Each tournament will finish no later than 5pm each Sunday. Here are the dates of each event:
