Community Events
From time to time, the Calgary Chess Club can be found outside of our club at a variety of locations within the city.
Look for us at special events in the community.
Next Event: TBA
We will be doing another mall exhibition soon. Watch this page for updates.
Sunridge Mall
Date: February 17, 18, 19
Times: 10 am to 9 pm each day
Our time at the Sunridge Mall was excellent. We got our information out to hundreds of people, and enjoyed ourselves at the same time. The giant chess set was a great eye catcher and drew people to us like a magnet. Both young and old took the time to play a casual game while members of the Calgary Chess Club were available to answer any questions that came up.
Look for us at other shopping centres in the coming months.

Chinatown Street Festival, Saturday August 15!
What is the Chinatown Street Festival?
It is Chinatown's premiere multicultural festival with a combination of merchant booths and entertainment, centred at 3rd Ave & 1st St SE. The festival attracts an estimated 50,000 people, and the Calgary Chess Club will be there providing free entertainment and information on the Calgary chess scene. Festival runs from 10 am until 8 pm.
Volunteers are needed and welcome! Its easy. Just show up and play chess!
We were happy to be a part of Inglewood Sunfest, August 1, 2009!
Visit there website for details on this festival. For the event report, download the August 2009 ACR here.
We currently take donations towards the Calgary Inter-faith Food Bank. We accept donations at the club, or during any of our special events in the community.
If you are planning a festival, give us a call. We would love to set up to help make your event chess friendly. There is no cost, and this would add to the value and profile of your event.
Our giant chess set is very popular with the crowd!
