Tuesday Nights - Tournament Chess
On almost every Tuesday you can play a competitive tournament game. We run 3 different time controls: Game in 90 + 30 seconds, Game in 25 + 10 seconds and Game in 5 minutes. Normally, the longer time control events are CFC rated and require each player to have a CFC membership. Adult CFC membership is $41 per year and a Junior CFC membership is $27 per year. Most of the Tuesday night events also require that you become a member of the Calgary Chess Club as well. As well, most of the Tuesday evening events will have their own entry fee. Consult the tournament details for information on each event. For all events, all players must be registered by 7:10 pm as games will begin no later than 7:15 pm each week.
Thursday Night - Speed Chess
Come in any Thursday for a night of fast play. Doors open from 7 pm until 11 pm. There will be a wide variety of different time controls with regular 5 minute blitz, incremental, hour glass, etc. $2 admission or free to Calgary Chess Club members.
Saturday Afternoon - Youth Chess
Open every Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm. Program includes instruction, lectures and casual play geared towards the beginner. All members are welcome to show up on any Saturday to play or just lend a hand with the many juniors who show up.
