This Tournament will be held at the Sheraton Hotel as part of the 16th Calgary International Chess Tournament.
Dates: July 31st to August 4th 2025.

Format: Swiss, 7-rounds, Classic 90/30 (game in 90 minutes plus 30 seconds/move),
CFC and FIDE rated, Single Section Open.

Eligibility: Current CFC (Canadian Chess Federation) is required. Only players rated under 2000 and
according to FIDE rating will be allowed into the Under 2000 section. Only players rated under 1600
according to both FIDE and CFC will be allowed in the under 1600 section. Players whose rating
surpasses 1600 after registration will be moved into the under 2000 section. Players whose FIDE rating
surpasses 2000 after registration will be allowed to join the over 2000 section as long as they pay the fee
difference (see 2000 section) or stay in the under 2000 section if they prefer.

No entries after 8 pm, July 30 th will be accepted.
CFC Membership: Required, but CCC does not accept payments for CFC. If necessary, join/renew CFC membership online at https://www.chess.ca/en/players/membership-join/. The annual fee is Adult $43, Junior $28. Alternatively, a CFC single-tournament membership is Adult $20, Junior $10.
If a Player joined or renewed at CFC in the previous 10 days, TD may require proof (e.g., screenprint).
Byes: Up to three half point byes are allowed for rounds 1-6. Byes must be requested before the start of
the event or at least two rounds ahead. For example, a round 5 bye request must be made before
round 4 pairings are made.
Fair-play rules: Players may not have any electronic devices on them during play. Electronic devices
include but are not limited to: mobile phones, watches, airpods, etc… Medical devices are allowed with
approval of the TD. If such a device is found on a player the minimum penalty will be loss of a game.
Electronic devices may be stored in a bag which the player will not touch during the game.
Draw rules: No draw offers are allowed until at least 30 moves have been played by both players. An
agreement to a draw earlier than that will result in double forfeit.
Default time: No-show default time is 30-minutes, but if a player contacts the TD, an extra 15 minutes
may be allowed at TD discretion.
